National Lifeguard Shortage

A national Lifeguard shortage is affecting Houston pools and will keep thousands of pools across the country closed or operating with reduced hours for the third summer in a row.

Although pandemic restrictions have come and gone, trained lifeguards haven't returned to their posts, which may force public pools to be shut down over safety concerns.

The City of Houston and many other cities have been working to provide incentives to get new lifeguards. If you or someone you know is looking for a job this summer, consider taking a certification class to become a lifeguard!
