Closed in early April, the pool was slated to be shuttered for the summer season to undergo repairs for the first time in 20 years.
The extensive renovations, which cost the state park system about $500,000, replaced the plumbing, mechanical equipment, chlorination system and resurfaced all three sections of the pool. Visitors will also notice new handrails, ladders and a wheelchair lift.
The pool has been a main attraction at the state park since it was completed in 1937. For the past six seasons, the pool has been operated by the Bastrop YMCA, which supplies lifeguards, offers swim lessons, summer day camps and community events.
